| THE EPISTOLARIAN |
This year, I have felt that I, and perhaps all of us, need the holidays. We need rest, comfort, delicious food, and the sanctuary of time spent with those we love. My husband has been traveling for work while I have been keeping the household afloat. Between appointments, catching up after Charleston, and the whirl of Halloween, it has been a full season (and also just a week)! Now, as November arrives, I am letting myself lean into the early feeling of the holidays.
This time of year invites gratitude, slow meals by lamplight, and the first stirrings of good cheer. It is the perfect moment to welcome friends for cider or tea, or to gift a plant that brings the holidays into another home. It is a reminder of continuance, of how ritual and generosity weave through the years and return each season in renewed form.
Today I am releasing two new Floriography wax seals for the holiday season, each one festive and timeless. The new designs, the Poinsettia and the Holly, are now available as Collectors’ Editions for those in the Collectors’ Register. They can also be purchased as kits, complete with three coordinating wax colors, a silicone mat, melter, spoon, candle, and adhesive backings, for those who wish to create or gift their own holiday seals.
The Poinsettia, known to the Aztecs as Cuetlaxochitl, once symbolized purity and the renewal of the sun. Over time, it became tied to stories of faith and humility. To me, the poinsettia represents good cheer in its truest form. I remember my family both giving and receiving poinsettias during the holidays. Their crimson leaves always seemed to glow more brightly with the contrast of the cold outside. In wax, I love that we can imagine the leaves as both red and green, a small harmony of color that captures the spirit of the season.

The Holly carries a different mood. Its sharp leaves protect, and its berries offer brightness and promise. To me, it embodies continuance, the immortality of tradition and the small rituals that link generations during this time of year: gathering for harvest, giving thanks, watching the first snowfall, and celebrating Christmas. Like the thistle, it speaks of endurance and protection, yet with a more festive spirit. It is a symbol of domestic happiness. I imagine its sharp edges like the cold outside a home, and its berries as the sustenance and warmth within, a harmony of contrast that mirrors a loving household in winter.

Where the poinsettia and holly speak to the spirit of the holidays, the squirrel oak wreath penny turns our gaze toward the rhythm of nature and the promise of what endures beyond the season.
The squirrel, industrious and lighthearted, has long symbolized preparation, foresight, and the joy of simple abundance. It reminds us that gathering, storing, and tending are not just acts of survival but of devotion to the future. The acorn, small yet potent, embodies potential and legacy, the truth that from even the smallest effort, great things may grow. The oak wreath, eternal and unbroken, encircles them both as a symbol of victory, unity, and life that continues through all cycles.
Together, they form a kind of winter parable, showing that care, patience, and purpose will always bear fruit, even in the quiet seasons. Letters and seals are medicine for the soul, gentle reminders that meaning grows whenever we take time to create, connect, and give beauty form.

PS: Something beautiful is taking shape this spring in New York City. Would you like to join me?
I’ll be gathering a circle of kindred spirits for two days devoted to creativity, renewal, and the timeless art of wax seals. It will be a chance to slow down, create with intention, and share the joy of making by hand among friends.
As 2026 approaches, I'm reminding potential attendees that early bird pricing is still available, and spaces are limited.
