Medusa is a luminous serpentine green inspired by one of the most complicated women in mythology.

For centuries, Medusa has been reduced to the monster with snakes for hair. But I see her quite differently. Medusa is vulnerability transformed into power, righteous anger turned toward protection.

She is what's called an apotropaic symbol, an image intended to turn evil away. Her visage appeared on shields, armor, temples, and thresholds, guarding the person or place that bore it. I think of her as a symbol of energetic protection.

That is what I think about when I use this color.

Medusa is an unusual, shifting green. Somewhere between olive, serpent skin, and silk taffeta, it has a subtle pearlescence that catches the light and moves from mossy green to flashes of pale gold. It feels ancient without being dark.

This set includes seven 4-inch sealing wax sticks. The wax can be used in a low-temperature glue gun or melted traditionally with a wax spoon. It is durable and flexible enough to travel through the mail, though I recommend hand cancelling or enclosing your sealed letter inside an outer envelope when possible.
