This seal is inspired by an image that has appeared throughout my life: a robin perched in a blooming cherry tree.

Both my childhood home and my home now have cherry trees in the front yard, and watching the birds gather in their branches has long been one of my favorite seasonal pastimes. In spring, the blossoms arrive just as the robins return, creating a pairing that feels like a small announcement from the natural world.

Together they carry a beautiful symbolism. The cherry blossom marks the brief and luminous arrival of spring, while the robin signals the return of life after winter.

Emily Dickinson once wrote:

The Robin is the One

That interrupt the Morn
With hurried—few—express Reports
When March is scarcely on—

For me, the robin has also come to represent ordinary joy. The simple pleasure of watching them hop across the grass in the rain, searching the earth with cheerful seriousness.

In literature, the robin famously guides the heroine to the hidden garden in The Secret Garden, leading her toward beauty, healing, and renewal.
