A talisman of joyful resourcefulness and quiet strength.

On one side, a squirrel holds an acorn within a forest scene, a symbol of playful diligence and the wisdom of preparation. Each acorn represents the small, beautiful acts we gather and plant each day, moments of care, creativity, and appreciation that grow into something lasting.

On the other, an oak wreath encircles the impression, signifying endurance, legacy, and the natural cycles of growth that sustain us. 

The two sides speak to one another. The squirrel, alive with daily joy, reminds us of the witnessed magic in tending to small things. The oak wreath answers with what those moments become over time, a fullness born of care. Acorns become oaks, oaks offer their leaves, and from those leaves, the wreath is formed. It is both celebration and pause, a circle that honors what has been cultivated.

I often think of it as I watch the Hastings Étui unfold. Each humble penny is part of a living story. These are not objects to be finished or set aside, but milestones of ongoing devotion. Through them, the ordinary act of collecting becomes lineage, and the present moment becomes part of something that will endure. Much like the longevity of oaks, even after the oldest tree becomes nourishment for the forest, new ones rise from acorns buried through those same playful acts of squirrel devotion and resourcefulness.

And still, the forest feels the same. We do not need to wait for the end of a legacy to feel its beauty. It is here already, in our wonder, in discovery, in the quiet joy of being part of something that will be held and loved in centuries and millennia to come.
