“Such is Life” Ship Seal – Original Edition

This historic seal is one of the earliest in my collection. It was made during a formative time, as I was learning to craft three-dimensional seals and reintroduce detailed, sculptural motifs into modern wax seal making.

The design features a simple ship at sea, paired with the inscription “Such is life.” It speaks to our shared ability to navigate the tides of existence, to endure storms, and to rise and fall with the ocean’s rhythm.

Only six of these original seals remain. Each one holds the spirit of those early days and the vision that shaped Kathryn Hastings & Co. from the beginning.
