| THE EPISTOLARIAN |
Lately, I find myself contemplating the essence of letter writing and its significance in our modern world. It occurred to me that, despite my love for collecting wax seals, fine papers, inks, postage stamps, and other embellishments, I'm concerned with far more than the "things" themselves. To me, it's about the full experience, and finding time to romanticize small acts of devotion.
In today's fast-paced digital age, where instant messages and emails dominate our communication landscape, the act of writing a letter becomes an intentional pause—a moment to disconnect from the constant stream of notifications and immerse ourselves in a more deliberate form of expression. It's a chance to weave our thoughts and emotions into words, crafting a personal narrative that transcends the limitations of technology.
Today, I posted a Reel showing the seal of the week. One comment caught my attention: "I'm not sure I can write a letter so important to warrant that kind of seal." This remark resonated with me, highlighting a mindset that I believe needs a gentle shift. We often underestimate the significance of our everyday experiences, failing to recognize that our lives, in all their ordinary moments, are deserving of beauty and celebration. We don't need something "important" to say to warrant creating and sharing beauty.
In truth, beauty surrounds us every day. It is within these seemingly small occasions of daily living that we find the inspiration to create and share beautiful things. Just as a well-crafted letter can be a gift to both the writer and the receiver, infusing beauty into our lives can enrich our well-being and bring joy to those around us.
So, as we explore the art of letter writing together, let us embrace the idea of elevating our normal life experience. Let's marvel at the intricate details, both within and outside the lines of our letters, and express ourselves in ways that are intentional, thoughtful, and authentic.
It's simply a beautiful motif to explore again and again, finding what color combinations and papers work best. You may notice the gorgeous mustard-colored vellum. This vellum will be coming into the shop soon. Stay tuned.
