Finding Renewal in the Dance of Letting Go

Finding Renewal in the Dance of Letting Go

| THE EPISTOLARIAN |

It has been about recognizing my own limits, understanding that I can't always keep up with the frenetic pace I set for myself, and realizing that sometimes, it's okay to trim down, to cut things out, and to simplify.

Here are some questions to ponder, which I hope will guide you towards embracing your own moments of simplicity:

  • What are the things in your life right now that you can let go of?
  • Where are you pushing yourself too hard, at the expense of your well-being?
  • How can you show kindness to yourself today?
  • Is there something you've been holding onto, simply out of habit, that no longer serves you?

We part to meet again

This wax seal depicts a pair of scissors with the inscription "we part to meet again."

Together, the imagery and the words capture the ebb and flow of life. There are moments of letting go, moments of solitude, and moments of reunion. The seal is a beautiful emblem for those who understand that life's true essence lies not just in clinging but also in the art of letting go, knowing that paths will cross again. Whether it's friendships that distance with time, loved ones we bid farewell to, or life chapters that close, there's always a horizon where the old and the new can meet again.

My favorite scissors

Did you know that I carry a wide array of beautiful scissors in my shop? The Crane Scissors are my favorite for gifts and decorating my desk. They're handmade in Italy and cut beautifully. I also absolutely love these paper scissors made by Merchant & Mills in England.

Color of the Week: Hecate

Hecate, the ancient Greek goddess of magic, crossroads, and the moon, has long been revered as a powerful deity who holds dominion over liminal spaces and transitions. Often depicted holding torches or keys, she is a guardian of the threshold, guiding souls through transformations and life’s pivotal moments. Her association with the crossroads symbolizes her capability to see past, present, and future, guiding individuals towards the correct path.

The concept of ‘cutting the cord’ is a symbolic ritual in many spiritual practices, representing the act of energetically and emotionally severing ties from past experiences, relationships, or patterns that no longer serve an individual’s growth or well-being. This ritual is particularly potent when seeking to release negative attachments, heal from traumas, or embark on new beginnings.
