I believe in the power of letters. They are so much more than a mere heartfelt gesture; they're a powerful tool for well being.
Did you know that writing thank you letters can improve life satisfaction?
Research has uncovered that expressing gratitude helps release us from negative emotions. One study revealed that the simple act of writing gratitude letters is associated with significant improvements in mental health.
Amit Kumar, a co-author of a study on gratitude, encapsulates this beautifully: "Saying thanks can improve somebody’s own happiness, and it can improve the well-being of another person as well — even more than we anticipate," highlighting the dual benefits of such a practice. This dual benefit is further supported by evidence suggesting that those who write about their gratitude tend to feel more satisfied with life and experience a boost in self-esteem.
TIP: Write THREE thank you letters this week. A few reminders:
- Specificity: Be specific about what you are thanking the person for. Instead of a generic 'thank you for everything,' mention the exact act of kindness or the gift you received. This shows that you are genuinely appreciative of the specific effort or thoughtfulness the person has shown.
- Sincerity: Express your gratitude sincerely. Your tone should reflect your personality and your relationship to the recipient, but it should always come from the heart. Authenticity is crucial in making the recipient feel truly appreciated.
- Promptness: Send your thank you note promptly. For me, it's not so much about the timliness of thank you itself, but the act of sending a thank you. As soon as you're done writing your thank you, be sure to actually send it!
Seal of the Week: Kathryn Hastings Limited Edition Bow Seal
This week, we celebrate a thrilling milestone with the unveiling of two exclusive Kathryn Hastings wax seals. 🎉 I deeply believe in a world that writes more letters, a world that celebrates the beauty of everyday things. Something as simple as melted wax can transform to a powerful emblem of beauty and human connection.
Whenever I launch a new seal, there is a bit of a leap of faith as I wonder if people will see the beauty that I do and realize the unique value of owning a Kathryn Hastings seal.
In crafting these seals, I not only have you in mind but also generations yet to come. I envisage the friends and family who will inherit these treasures, and those, centuries hence, who will hold these seals in the same reverence we hold cherished antiques today. This isn't just a seal; it's a legacy—a piece of history in the making.
As the holiday season approaches, these seals convey the profound symbolism of bows and wreaths, icons of unity, celebration, and enduring connections.
🎀 The bow, a timeless symbol of unity and memory, links us to treasured times. It is emblematic of the relationships we build, as well as the beauty and strength of those relationships.
This seal has the most beautiful handle I've created. It's the bust of a horse head, and the seal itself is timeliness perfection.
