Harps!
The symbolism of the harp transcends its deep roots in Irish culture, extending into a broader metaphor for harmony in relationships. Each string of a harp, when plucked individually, produces a note that is beautiful in its own right. However, it is only when these notes are played in unison—perfectly aligned in tone and rhythm—that they create the rich, resonant chords that define true harmony.
This concept beautifully reflects the dynamics of human relationships. Just as a harp's notes must be in agreement to produce harmony, so too must people find alignment and shared understanding to cultivate true connection. Without this alignment, the possibility of harmony remains out of reach.
This truth is captured in various inscriptions found on antique harp wax seals, such as the one below, which reads "Pas d'harmonie sans accord"—a powerful reminder that "There is no harmony without agreement."
Another inscription found on antique harp wax seals reads "Je réponds à la touche," which translates to "I respond to the touch." This phrase beautifully encapsulates the idea that harmony is not just about alignment but also about responsiveness. Just as a harp resonates in response to the touch of its strings, so too do relationships flourish when individuals are attuned to each other's needs and emotions. It's a reminder that harmony is a dynamic process, requiring both sensitivity and a willingness to engage with one another in meaningful ways.

Featured Wax Color: Classic Red
My Classic Red sealing wax continues to be one of my top sellers, and it's easy to see why—it's timeless. Traditionally, sealing wax was red because of the natural resin that was used to create it. While modern resins have replaced those original materials, we've stayed true to the essence of that classic color by using rich red pigments. At Kathryn Hastings, we take it a step further by incorporating more pigments than most modern waxes, ensuring that our Classic Red remains exceptionally vivid and durable.
