The bucranium, an ox or bull skull, appears throughout ancient Greek and Roman art, carved into temples, tombs, altars, and monuments. Often the bull skull is shown with garlands, ribbons, flowers, and fruit.

Engraved as a Kathryn Hastings seal, the Bucranium becomes part of that long tradition once more, an ancient image made to mark the rituals of a life being lived now.
