The bow has long been a symbol of lovely ties, of affection, friendship, remembrance, and the invisible threads that connect one person to another. Unlike the knots made to hold weight, a bow is delightfully non-load-bearing. Its purpose is not necessity, but beauty. It gathers, adorns, finishes, and transforms.

We find bows everywhere: tied around letters and parcels, woven through hair, carved into furniture and architecture, painted into portraits, embroidered onto clothing, and tucked into the decorative arts of cultures around the world. Across centuries, we have continued to make this little gesture for no reason more practical than the desire to make something lovely.

The Memo Press Bow celebrates that impulse.

The seal is modeled after a charming double-bow illustration by Alice Edwards of Memo Press, whose shop holds a particularly meaningful place in our history as the first shop in the world to carry Kathryn Hastings.
