An invitation to notice the treasures hidden in plain sight.

There is an entire world waiting to be discovered beneath our feet. Under fallen leaves, among moss-covered stones, and on the quiet floors of woodlands, small wonders reveal themselves to those who take the time to look.

The Underleaf Penny is a celebration of these overlooked treasures and a reminder that beauty is often found when we slow down enough to notice it.

Heads: The Snail

A small snail carries its home upon its back, accompanied by the French inscription Toujours chez moi, meaning “Always at home.”

The snail moves slowly enough to notice the world around it. Wherever it travels, it carries its home with it, reminding us that home is more than a place. It is a feeling of belonging, a sense of peace, and something we may learn to carry within ourselves.

Tails: The Mushroom

A mushroom rises from the woodland floor, bearing the Italian inscription Giovane e maturo, meaning “Young and mature.”

The mushroom reminds us of the quiet cycles of growth and transformation, of all that takes place beneath the surface before something beautiful emerges into the light.

Together, these two motifs invite us to consider the extraordinary beauty of ordinary things, the wisdom of moving at our own pace, and the treasures that await us when we take the time to look underleaf.
