🗺️📍 The First Pin on the Treasure Map⚜️🌙✨

| THE EPISTOLARIAN |

As I write this, I'm flying home over the Rocky Mountains after a wonderful few days in New Orleans, where we launched the first collection in what I hope will become a lifelong fine art project.

My vision is to create a series of wax seals that celebrate the unique character of places, first across the United States and eventually around the world. Rather than creating designs that could belong anywhere, I want these seals to belong somewhere. To carry the spirit, history, flora, stories, and sense of place of the communities that inspire them.

It felt fitting that this project would begin at Scriptura.

For years, Scriptura has been one of my favorite shops in America. It is one of those increasingly rare places that still believes in the beauty of paper, letters, and artful correspondence. It is also deeply rooted in New Orleans itself, the sort of shop that could exist nowhere else.

The moment you step through the door, you feel a sense of hospitality and history. There is the scent of paper and wood in the air, treasures tucked into every corner, and a feeling that you have discovered something both timeless and distinctly local.

With Margaret and Sallie, Sisters and Shop owners who founded Scriptura 30 years ago.

Together, we released two Scriptura-exclusive designs: the Scriptura Fleur-de-Lis and the Blue Heron.

The Fleur de Lis Seal Stamp

To my astonishment, both sold out in about ten minutes. I did restock a handful of Fleur-De-Lis, which you can collect from Scriptura's website.

I spent Friday afternoon at the shop meeting many of you in person. We had wax warming on the table, seals ready to press, and a steady stream of curious visitors discovering the work for the first time. It was one of those rare afternoons that reminded me why I began this journey in the first place.

What made the experience especially meaningful was the welcome I received from Scriptura's owners, sisters Sallie and Margaret. Their kindness, hospitality, and obvious love for what they do seemed to permeate every corner of the shop. By the end of the weekend, Scriptura felt like a new home.

The first person to arrive that afternoon was a woman named Michelle.

If you've followed my work for a while, you may know the story of my dear friend Michelle, whose unexpected death years ago profoundly changed me. Over time, her memory became woven into my work, including the crescent moon on my Everlasting penny, a small reminder that what is loved is never truly lost.

Later that afternoon, I shared that story with the Michelle who had walked into Scriptura, and how serendipitous it felt that the first person I'd meet would be a Michelle.

"Of course," she replied. "It's very fitting then that you're launching this collection in the Crescent City."

It gave me chills! I knew New Orleans as The Big Easy but had missed the connection with The Crescent City.

To learn of yet another crescent, from yet another Michelle, on the very day these designs entered the world felt like one of those small moments of magic that life occasionally offers.

What I love most about this project is that the designs are deeply tied to place. I can feel New Orleans in these seals. I can feel the city's layers of history, its beauty, its eccentricity, and its devotion to living fully. I can feel Scriptura itself, with its scent of old paper and wood, its carefully chosen objects, and its belief that handwritten correspondence still matters.

Today, so much of the world feels interchangeable. The same products can be purchased from countless places with a click. Through this collection, I hope to celebrate the opposite. I want to honor what is local, distinctive, and worth preserving. The shops, traditions, landscapes, and stories that give a place its soul.

While these seals can be purchased online, they are available only through Scriptura. New Orleans is the first pin on this Treasure Map, and I could not imagine a more beautiful place for the journey to begin.

We will be restocking the collection and introducing additional Scriptura-exclusive designs in the future.

Until then, I'd love to know: where should the Treasure Map take us next?

Pegasus - Back in Stock

Pegasus is back in stock.

In Greek mythology, Pegasus emerges from the blood of Medusa, a powerful reminder that beauty and inspiration can arise from even the most difficult places. For centuries, the winged horse has symbolized imagination, creative freedom, and the mysterious spark that transforms an idea into something real.

I have always loved Pegasus as a symbol of creative possibility, and I'm delighted to welcome him back.

The Pegasus Seal

With love,

Kathryn

PS: I also attended the wedding of my friend Cathleen, whose ceremony took place in St. Louis Cathedral, overlooking Jackson Square in the heart of the French Quarter. The cathedral has watched over New Orleans for generations, and it felt like a fitting place to witness the beginning of a new chapter for her as well!
