Speak As you Think
A parrot seal from a dear friend...I acquired this seal from my friend, and follow collector, Jess (The Sealing Sparrow). The seal is inscribed "Speak as You Think," which is a reminder I can use regularly. In a world that often encourages us to filter our thoughts and conform to societal norms, embracing our true voices becomes an act of courage and vulnerability. Did you know? Research shows that speaking as we think leads to greater emotional well-being and fosters deeper connections with others. When we have the courage to express our authentic thoughts and feelings, we invite others to do the same, creating an environment of trust and openness. |
Are you a recovering people pleaser? Do you find yourself censoring your words as well?
Here are some reminders for you:
- Embrace vulnerability: Don’t be afraid to let your true thoughts and emotions shine through. Be honest, even if it feels uncomfortable at first. Remember, vulnerability is the birthplace of connection.
- Trust your instincts: Allow your intuition to guide your writing. Let go of the need for perfection and focus on expressing yourself authentically. Your instincts will lead you to the words that truly matter.
- Write from the heart: When you’re writing a letter, imagine the recipient sitting across from you. Speak directly to them, from the depths of your heart. Let your words be a reflection of your genuine feelings and intentions.
- Practice active listening: Before responding to a letter or email, take a moment to reflect on your thoughts and feelings. This helps ensure that your response aligns with your authentic self and encourages a reciprocal flow of honest communication. I ask my self questions before writing and listen closely to how I feel.
- Create a safe space: When writing letters, set the intention for an environment of trust and understanding. Assure the recipient that their thoughts and feelings are valued and welcomed. This creates an invitation for them to respond in kind.
Remember, my dear friends, speaking as you think is not about perfection or conforming to external expectations. It’s about honoring your truth and allowing others to do the same.
